Depression is like a screen that dulls everything you see and numbs how you feel. Enjoyable things like friends, music and movies just aren’t pleasurable anymore. And the things that never were fun…forget it!!
Anxiety seems like a not so great cousin of depression; on edge, worried, feeling that something bad might happen.
When you are experiencing something different on the inside than what others say is happening on the outside, it can be confusing and isolating.
The way out of depression and anxiety is a safe space to express yourself
An important step is being heard and having that person try to put herself in your place. Many of my clients have told me that after the first session, they experienced some relief from their symptoms.
One therapy session isn’t a cure, but a reduction in symptoms – when you’ve been suffering too long – is a welcomed sign of the healing to come.
